Geography class meets for 48 minutes a day (43 on Tuesdays) which equates to less than 6 full days a year. In order to have a significant learning experience, part of our learning will take place outside of the classroom. In most circumstances, an assignment is a continuation of our in-class activity.Otherwise, the assignment is intended to prepare students for an upcoming lesson. Students are expected to spend 20-30 minutes outside of class on World Geography.
What do I do with my assignment? Please show me the assignment during our in-class check or after school. I will mark it and record it in the Grade Portal immediately. I do not collect assignments (except maps or tests). Under no circumstances should an assignment be left in the classroom, neither on my desk nor in a bin. It is the student's responsibility to show an assignment for credit.
What if I did not finish my assignment? Please show your assignment when it is being checked. Partial credit is better than no credit. When there is a day with less or no out-of-class assignments, return to it and finish. Once complete, bring it in after school for the rest of the credit.
How do I know if I am missing an assignment? Students must use theGrade Portalto determine missed assignments Assignments marked "L" or "Late" with a red-triangle were not available during class. Assignments marked "M" or "Missing" with a yellow-square are from an absence. Both are recorded as a zero (0/F) until shown after school for credit. It is the students responsibility to show missed assignments for credit
What should I do if I am missing an assignment? Use google classroom to locate the assignment you missed, print it (if necessary) complete it and bring it in after school.
When can I show my assignment for credit? Please show your assignment as soon as possible, after school. Students may only show missing assignments after school.
Will I loose credit? Sick/ Unexpected absence: Full credit if within 2 days of return
Vacation/ Planned absence: Full credit if before or within 2 days of return
Other/Missed Assignments: Reduced one full letter grade per day (ex: due Mon, passed in Wed; an "A" is reduced to a "C")
or one full point value (ex: "5" points are reduced to "3")
When is it too late? Assignments handed in after the end of a unit will be accepted only at the teacher's discretion. Student's regularity with completing assignments on-time, effort on the assignment, and attitude toward having missed the due-date will factor in to a decision. Students on education plans are expected to meet these standards without effect on their grade.
No assignments can be checked or grade changes made beyond the end of the term.
